The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced Gold Fields Ghana Limited as the new headline sponsor of the Ghana Women’s Premier League, marking a major boost for the continued growth and development of women’s football in the country.

The partnership represents one of the biggest corporate investments in the domestic women’s game and reinforces the GFA’s commitment to making the Women’s Premier League more competitive, commercially attractive and sustainable.

Gold Fields Ghana takes over as headline sponsor following the expiration of the league’s partnership with Malta Guinness, ushering in a new chapter for Ghana’s top-flight women’s competition.

In a statement, the GFA described the agreement as a strategic collaboration that will strengthen the league’s profile while creating greater opportunities for clubs and players.

“The partnership represents a significant investment in the women’s game and underscores the GFA’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the Women’s Premier League through strategic collaborations that enhance its competitiveness, visibility, and long-term sustainability,” the Association said.

The Football Association also expressed its appreciation to Gold Fields Ghana for investing in women’s football and welcomed the mining company into the Ghana football family.

“The Football Association extends its sincere appreciation to Gold Fields Ghana Limited for its confidence in the future of Ghana football and warmly welcomes the company to the Ghana football family.”

The sponsorship comes at a time when the GFA continues to prioritise the development of women’s football, with increasing efforts to improve the standard of competition, attract commercial partners and provide better opportunities for female footballers across the country.

Although financial details of the agreement have not yet been disclosed, the GFA confirmed that further information regarding the sponsorship package, the unveiling of the league’s new identity and implementation plans will be announced in due course.

The deal is expected to provide renewed momentum for the Ghana Women’s Premier League as it looks to build on the foundation established during the Malta Guinness era and continue raising the profile of women’s football both domestically and across the continent.
