Jurgen Klopp has been officially appointed as head coach of Germany’s National Men’s Football Team marking a transition from club football management to international football management.
The German Football Federation announced this at a press conference on Friday, July 24 with the former Liverpool FC manager replacing Julian Nagelsmann.
Klopp served as director at Red Bull Football’s Conglomerate prior to his appointment; he also served as head coach at German clubs Borussia Dortmund and Mainz 05.
Klopp steps into the role after Germany crashed out of the round of 32 stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup via a penalty shootout loss to Paraguay.
“Few things can bring us Germans together like the national team.”
“That is exactly what makes this role so special for me. I’m now looking forward to taking on this special role in German football.”
“We will approach it together with humility and patience as we look to build a team that fights for one another, enjoys its football and that people across our country can get fully behind” Klopp said after his appointment according to the German FA.
