Antoine Semenyo provided two assists as Manchester City came from behind to beat Atletico Madrid 3-1 in a pre-season friendly in Seoul, South Korea.

City fell behind shortly before half-time after Atletico capitalised on a defensive error from a corner.

Koke’s delivery was not properly cleared and Morten Hjulmand picked out 16-year-old Jorge Dominguez, who finished past goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to give the Spanish side the lead.

Semenyo then played a decisive role in City’s second-half comeback.

The Ghana international helped create the equaliser in the 57th minute after doing brilliantly to keep the ball in play before driving into the Atletico penalty area from the left.

His low cross found Omar Marmoush, who made no mistake from close range to bring City level.

Just two minutes later, Semenyo and Marmoush combined again, with the Ghanaian winger producing another low delivery from the left for the Egyptian forward to finish and complete his brace.

Rayan Ait-Nouri sealed the victory in stoppage time, racing onto a pass from Divin Mubama before firing a low shot into the bottom corner.

More than 50,000 fans watched the game at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, with Atletico’s South Korean international Lee Kang-in receiving a huge reception when he came on in the second half.

The result marked City’s third and final match of their pre-season tour of Asia.

They had previously lost on penalties to Inter Milan after a 1-1 draw in Hong Kong before beating a K League All-Stars side 3-1 in Seoul.

City will now turn their attention to the Community Shield against Premier League champions Arsenal on Sunday, 16 August at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

For Semenyo, the performance provides another encouraging sign as he adapts to Enzo Maresca’s attacking system, with his pace and ability to deliver from wide areas proving decisive against Atletico.
