Ghana defender Abdul Mumin has announced his departure from Spanish La Liga side Rayo Vallecano bringing to an end his four year run with the club. (Scroll down to read full statement)

The 28 year old announced his exit by delivering a heartfelt message on social media as reports continue to link him with a move to Girona in the Spanish Segunda.

After a brilliant start to life at Rayo on the back of a stint in Portugal, Mumin was slowed down by a serious knee injury.

He recovered just before the conclusion of the 2025-2026 season and was part of Ghana’s team that featured in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“To the fans and the Vallecas Community, today I have to say goodbye, and my heart is full of sadness. I don’t even know where to start.”

“I have so many good memories from my time in Vallecas. From the very first day, I felt at home. I never felt out of place. I only wish it could have been more.”

“I want to thank each and every one of you who supported the team and me over these 4 years” a section of his statement read.
