Black Satellites head coach Maxwell Konadu says criticism is part of the job when leading Ghana’s national U-20 team. (Scroll down to watch the video.)

Konadu made the remarks in an interview with Citi Sports after the team’s return from Côte d’Ivoire, where Ghana exited the 2026 WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship at the group stage.

The Black Satellites failed to win a match, losing 4-2 to Nigeria before drawing 1-1 with Burkina Faso and playing out a goalless draw against Togo.

Despite the disappointing campaign, Ghana has already secured qualification for next year’s CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations as hosts. Konadu said criticism is to be expected when coaching the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup champions.

“Without pressure, football won’t be football, football would not be where it is today so the pressure is what football what it is today. We are used to it…it’s part of the job.”

“There is nothing we can do about it” Konadu said.

🎥 🇬🇭 “Without pressure from fans, football won’t get to where it needs to be. The only thing is that some people take things too personally.”
