National Sports Authority (NSA) Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah says he is happy with the state of work done at the Baba Yara Stadium. (Scroll down to watch video)
He said this in his address to the media after visiting the facility that is scheduled to host the 2026 Democracy Cup on Friday, August 28. Kumasi Asante Kotoko take on arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in this year’s game.
His comments come mere weeks after photos of workers manually working on the stadium’s playing surface went viral on social media with many slamming the slow paced nature of the process but the NSA boss said he was happy with the work done at the time of writing.
“I’m very happy with the work that has been done here. The major works have been done.”
“The grass is beginning to respond to treatment and the rehabilitation is on course and I believe in a few weeks’ time it should be in good stead, strong enough, robust to host football matches including the Ghana Premier League” he said.
