Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has revealed that he was diagnosed with a neurological dysfunction after collapsing during a pre-season match.
The Germany international collapsed in the closing stages of Bayern’s 3-1 win over RB Leipzig, just four days after suffering a similar incident in another friendly against Heidenheim. Bayern’s medical team attended to Musiala, and he was later seen walking on his own.
While the warm conditions during the match had been suggested as a possible cause, Musiala clarified in an Instagram post that a medical condition was responsible for his collapse.
“I’ve been diagnosed with temporary, brief, but easily treatable absences caused by a neurological dysfunction. These can lead to episodes like the ones that occurred recently.”

“I know these can seem scary at first glance – but for me, they’re currently part of my everyday life. I’m receiving the best medical care for this and am very optimistic” Musiala said.
Musiala recently featured for Germany in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and crashed out in the round of 32.
