Manchester City produced a dominant second-half display to beat Crystal Palace 4-1 at Selhurst Park, with Rayan Cherki delivering a standout performance.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring in the 16th minute, rising to meet a cross from the left and directing a header beyond Dean Henderson.

City continued to control the game and could have extended their advantage before the break, with Phil Foden missing a good opportunity and Haaland also going close. Palace threatened at times but went into half-time 1-0 down.

The visitors then took control after the restart.

Cherki doubled City’s lead in the 54th minute with a brilliant individual effort, weaving through several Palace defenders before finishing into the bottom corner.

Palace responded almost immediately when Yeremy Pino’s free-kick struck the woodwork and rebounded into the net off goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, reducing the deficit to 2-1.

Any hopes of a comeback were short-lived, however, as Cherki restored City’s two-goal advantage in the 59th minute. His shot from the edge of the box took a deflection but was credited to the Frenchman.

Haaland then completed the scoring in the 85th minute, firing home from close range after being set up by Foden.

The victory gives City a convincing result on the road, while Palace suffer their second consecutive defeat.

For City, the biggest positive was the performance of Cherki, whose two goals underlined his growing influence in the side. Haaland also continued his scoring form with a brace.
