The 40 year old was nominated for the prestigious award in the Men’s category after starring at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This year’s Ballon d’Or award ceremony will take place in London on October 26 and the nominees for various awards were announced on Tuesday, September 8.
Vozingha’s brilliant displays propelled World Cup debutants Cape Verde to a historic qualification to the round of 32 stage before exiting via a 3-2 loss to Argentina.
His stellar play earned him a move to Chilean giants Colo Colo in a move he described as the “biggest contract of my life”.

Vozinha was one of two goalkeepers from Africa who were nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year Award. Morocco’s Yassine Bounou and Senegal’s Edouard Mendy also made the cut.
