Nations FC defender Dennis Korsah believes his side could have done better after suffering a 1-0 defeat to FC Diarra of Mali in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup first-round tie.
Korsah made the remarks in a post-match interview with the club’s media team following Nations FC’s historic first appearance in continental competition.
The experienced defender, who joined Nations FC after spells with Ebusua Dwarfs and Accra Hearts of Oak, admitted the result was disappointing but remains confident the team can overturn the deficit in the return leg.
“We could have done better, maybe get a point, but then football happened so we just have to correct our mistakes…and then try to do much better back home and try and qualify for the next round.”
Korsah also highlighted the importance of the experience, particularly for the club’s younger players.
“It’s good playing in this kind of competition. It’s an opportunity for some of the new guys. The feeling was good, but as you all know, the result wasn’t what we expected.”
Nations FC will host Diarra in the second leg on Sunday, September 13, knowing a win by at least two goals will secure their place in the next round.
