Manchester City have agreed a British record £125 million deal to sign Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez on Transfer Deadline Day.
The 25-year-old Argentina international has agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with an option for a further season and has been given permission to travel to Manchester for his medical.
The deal matches the British transfer record set by Liverpool for Alexander Isak last summer and reunites Fernandez with former Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca at the Etihad Stadium.

Fernandez had reportedly made clear his desire to leave Chelsea for City and was absent from the club’s recent fixtures as negotiations progressed.
The move also strengthens City’s midfield following Rodri’s departure to Barcelona earlier this summer, with Fernandez set to provide experience and creativity in the centre of the pitch.
