Ghanaian Players Abroad: Semenyo, Iñaki assist as Nuamah and Boakye score

It was another productive weekend for Ghanaian players abroad, with several Black Stars players making significant contributions for their clubs across Europe.

Mohammed Kudus

Mohammed Kudus made his second appearance since returning from injury as Tottenham Hotspur were held to a goalless draw by Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League.

Kudus played 29 minutes, recording 19 touches, completing one dribble and winning three fouls.

Antoine Semenyo

Antoine Semenyo played a key role in Manchester City’s 1-0 victory over Coventry City.

The 26-year-old created three chances and assisted Erling Haaland’s winning goal, taking his tally to two assists this season.

Brandon Thomas-Asante

Brandon Thomas-Asante came off the bench and played 19 minutes for Coventry City in their defeat to Manchester City.

He recorded nine touches, one interception and four recoveries but failed to register a shot on target.

Caleb Yirenkyi

Caleb Yirenkyi also came off the bench, playing 27 minutes in Coventry’s narrow defeat.

The Ghanaian recorded two interceptions and four recoveries, with no shots on target.

Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer

Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer scored against his former club HSV as Mainz cruised to a 5-0 Bundesliga victory.

The forward came on for 22 minutes and has now scored twice in three appearances for his new club.

Lawrence Ati-Zigi

Lawrence Ati-Zigi kept his first clean sheet in five matches as St. Gallen beat Servette 2-0 in the Swiss Super League.

The Ghanaian goalkeeper made two saves and recorded 10 recoveries.

Daniel-Kofi Kyereh

Daniel-Kofi Kyereh scored his first goal for Osnabrück in their 3-1 victory over Braunschweig in the 2. Bundesliga.

The midfielder came off the bench and played 45 minutes, recording two shots on target and creating one chance.

Ernest Nuamah

Ernest Nuamah scored and provided an assist as Lyon beat Auxerre 3-1 in Ligue 1.

He also created one chance, registered one shot on target and completed 75% of his dribbles.

Iñaki Williams

Iñaki Williams registered his second assist of the season as Athletic Club secured an impressive 3-0 victory over Atlético Madrid.

The Athletic Club captain led the match for shots with three and also created two chances.

Augustine Boakye

Augustine Boakye scored a stunning goal as Saint-Étienne beat Dijon 3-2 in Ligue 2.

The midfielder has now scored two goals and provided two assists in his first four league appearances of the season.

With Ghana set to begin the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign this month, starting with a crucial away clash against Côte d’Ivoire on September 24, the form of Ghanaian players abroad will be important to the Black Stars’ preparations and qualification hopes.
