AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim says that he has learnt from the mistakes he made during his time at Manchester United to make his team more tactically flexible.
He said this after Milan beat Lecce 3-0 in the Italian Serie A to extend the team’s unbeaten start to the 2026-2027 season to five.
Amorim’s team has three wins and two draws to rank fifth at the time of writing heading into the international window of the campaign.
The Portuguese coach was insistent in playing with a three man defensive line in England but has adopted a more flexible approach and pointed to learning from his mistakes during his time in the EPL as the reason.
“The players had a little more freedom, and they played better with a little more freedom. What I felt in the last games is the same that I felt at Manchester United, and I cannot make the same mistake.”
“Sometimes…we have to adapt. I think today it worked, in another game we can return to the build-up with three, the important thing is to have different ways of playing” Amorim said.
