Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his disappointment with his team’s performance following their 3-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.
The Gunners suffered their first league defeat of the season at the AMEX Stadium on Saturday, September 19. Pascal Gross and Charalampos Koustoulas scored from the edge of the box in the first half before Chema Andreas sealed Brighton’s victory with a header from a corner in the 57th minute.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Arteta credited Brighton for their performance but criticised his players for failing to “respect the game”.
“A really disappointing result and performance. Brighton were another gear up from us.”
“We were extremely poor technically and not respecting the game. Credit to Brighton.”
“They went up another gear. It’s a big lesson to learn. we have to make sure we learn the lesson because this can happen again” Arteta said.
