Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has dismissed criticism against his style by stating that his teams play winning football and that has kept him as a coach for 47 years.
He said this at his first press conference since his re-appointment as head coach of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team after his short term contract ended after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Portuguese coach touched on issues surrounding his call-up for Ghana’s games against Cote D’Ivoire and The Gambia in 2027 AFCON qualifiers later this month including the reason behind Mohammed Kudus’s absence in the team despite getting called up for the games.

Queiroz’s defensive style has drawn a lot of criticism as negative and unimaginative but the former Real Madrid pushed back on that narrative by stating that,
“I want you to understand one thing; my style of football…is the winning style. Tell me one coach in the world that lost his job because of his style. I only know of coaches that lose their jobs because they don’t win.”
“The winning makes the style. That’s the law of the game.”
