Black Stars midfielder Kwasi Sibo says he is looking to help Ghana to qualify to the 2027 AFCON after missing out on the 2025 edition. (Scroll down to watch video)
He said this in an interview at the Accra Sports Stadium as the Black Stars commenced preparation for its 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Cote D’Ivoire away from home on September 24 and at home against The Gambia on September 29.
Sibo was one of seven players present at the Accra Stadium on Day One of training for the double header and shared his thoughts on the Cote D’Ivoire game by stating that,
“It-playing against Cote D’Ivoire- doesn’t scare me as a player…they are a very good nation, they have very good individual quality players, we know them but I feel like we also have quality players that we can match them and we are ready for that match.”
“This AFCON is something that really matters to me because the last AFCON that we didn’t qualify, I was really disappointed” Sibo said.
Sibo wasn’t part of the Black Stars team that failed to qualify to the 2025 AFCON but featured prominently in Ghana’s 2026 World Cup run. He secured a move to Libyan side Asswehly after the tournament.
