Manchester United suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford, with goals from Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson piling pressure on head coach Michael Carrick.
United struggled to establish control from the opening minutes, with Bournemouth pressing high and creating early chances.
Bournemouth took the lead in the 38th minute when Rayan found space at the back post to volley home a free-kick delivered by Justin Kluivert. The visitors doubled their advantage four minutes later after a defensive error from Leny Yoro allowed Adrien Truffert to set up Tavernier for a simple finish.
United went into the break two goals down to boos from the home crowd, with their performance offering little attacking threat.

Carrick introduced Matheus Cunha at half-time, but United’s problems continued. Evanilson appeared to score a third goal shortly after the restart, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.
Bournemouth remained dangerous on the counter-attack, with Rayan repeatedly troubling United’s defence. The winger came close to adding another after beating Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez, but his effort drifted wide.
Evanilson eventually made it 3-0 in the 71st minute after capitalising on a poor decision by goalkeeper Senne Lammens. The Brazilian took the ball around the advancing keeper before finishing into an empty net from a tight angle.
United struggled to respond, resorting largely to shots from distance as Bournemouth defended their advantage comfortably. Carrick’s decision to leave captain Bruno Fernandes on the bench for much of the match also drew attention, with the midfielder not introduced during the period covered by the match updates.
As the final whistle approached, home supporters began leaving Old Trafford, while the visiting fans celebrated a commanding away performance.
This is the third time that Bournemouth gone 3-0 up in a Premier League game at Old Trafford (also in December 2023 and December 2024).
Only Liverpool and Man City have done so as many times in the competition (3).
