Liverpool secured a 2-0 victory over Brighton at Anfield on Sunday, October 25, with two goals in the opening 21 minutes earning the Reds all three points in the Premier League.

Brighton midfielder Pascal Groß turned the ball into his own net in the 17th minute after Florian Wirtz’s effort took a heavy deflection, giving Liverpool the lead.

The hosts doubled their advantage four minutes later when Alexander Isak finished a cut-back from Bradley Barcola, putting Liverpool firmly in control before half-time.

Brighton enjoyed the greater share of possession, recording 64 per cent compared to Liverpool’s 36 per cent, but struggled to turn that dominance into clear-cut chances.

The visitors registered 16 shots during the match but managed only one on target, while Liverpool recorded 11 attempts, with four testing the goalkeeper.

Yasin Ayari came close to pulling one back for Brighton in the second half, striking the post after Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson was caught out during an attempted build-up from the back.

Despite Brighton’s efforts to find a way back into the contest, Liverpool held on to claim a clean sheet and an important home win.

The result moves Liverpool into fourth place in the Premier League standings, according to the supplied match report, while Brighton remain third, one point ahead of the Reds.
