Chelsea defender Reece James is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery.
The club confirmed his absence in a statement on Friday, October 16, but did not specify how long he would be out.
Reports indicate that the England international could miss around three months as he recovers from the injury.
“Reece has already begun his road to recovery and will be supported by the club’s medical department at Cobham during this rehabilitation phase.”
“Everyone at Chelsea wishes Reece a speedy recovery and will support him on his road to return” a section of the club’s release stated.

Despite rising through the ranks as a right-back, James has spent significant time in recent seasons playing as a defensive midfielder.

James, who turns 27 in December, was part of England’s squad that won bronze at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
