FC Como head coach Cesc Fabregas has described his team’s upcoming UEFA Champions League clash with Manchester United as a “dream come true”.
The Italian side are set to face the English Premier League giants on Wednesday, October 21, in Italy, in a fixture Fabregas says would have been difficult to imagine just a few years ago.
Como were competing in Serie D in 2019 before rising rapidly through the Italian football divisions to reach Serie A. Their progress has since taken them onto the Champions League stage.
Fabregas said facing three-time European champions Manchester United represents a remarkable milestone for the club, given how far they have come in a short period.
“They are a great team. Just three years ago, when we were in Serie B, it would have been unthinkable that Manchester United might come to the Sinigaglia [stadium] — yet on Wednesday, that is exactly what will happen.”

“For us, it’s a dream come true; we’ll take our chances.”

“We are a new club-not in terms of our history, but because we started from scratch three years ago. Consequently, we have to be careful in how we manage a great many situations” Fabregas said.
