Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has revised the amount involved in the allegations against Tribe Culture Festival from $611,000 to $623,000, accusing the company of defrauding the public over arrangements linked to Ghana’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In an interview with Citi Sports, Kofi Adams said reports submitted to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) indicated that the company received money from individuals to get them visas for the World Cup.

“The money is not $611,000 but $623,000. It’s more than what I actually mentioned,” he said.

His comments follow a challenge from Tribe Culture Festival’s chief executive officer Nana Boateng Gyimah to provide evidence to support the allegations.

Kofi Adams insisted that the company, individuals involved and any government officials found culpable must be held accountable.

He said he began investigating the matter after he returned from the World Cup, following reports and petitions.

“After we returned from the World Cup, I launched an investigation following reports and petitions. I interviewed individuals and gathered information about a series of meetings involving Tribe Culture Festival representatives and other parties, during which arrangements were reportedly made to refund the money.”

According to the minister, individuals made the payments outside the government’s official arrangements. However, he said the National Sports Authority’s involvement meant the matter could not be treated as a purely private business transaction.

“Without them being involved, it would have been treated clearly as a private company doing their own thing,” he said.

Adams added that although his ministry had warned the public against certain arrangements ahead of the World Cup, the government had a responsibility to investigate complaints and hold anyone found culpable accountable.
