Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has confirmed that Lisandro Martinez will be available for Sunday’s clash against Leeds United despite recent tensions between the defender and the club.
United face Leeds on Sunday, October 18, amid a run of five games without a win in all competitions, including disappointing results against Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur.
Martinez criticised the club’s board following United’s 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, questioning its failure to strengthen the squad and improve its depth. The Argentine has since apologised for his comments after holding talks with Carrick.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Carrick said the club had moved on from the incident, confirming that Martinez would be part of the squad for the Leeds fixture.
“He-Lisandro Martinez- is part of the squad for Sunday’s game).”

“He made his statement and acknowledges that it was a mistake from him and that was it really. We have a really good feeling from within the group.”

“We have a really good feeling within the club from the inside. Genuinely moved on and there’s a freshness about the group today which I really liked” Carrick said.
