Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique believes Manchester City deserve the trophies they have won on the pitch despite the Premier League’s financial charges against the club.
Speaking ahead of PSG’s Champions League clash with City, Enrique said the allegations were surprising but urged patience as the legal process continues.
“The first thing when you hear that, it’s a surprise, but I think we need to respect the process and wait for the final decision,” he said.
Enrique praised City’s style of play and maintained that their performances deserved recognition.

“If I speak only about football and the things that I saw on the pitch, Man City deserve those trophies. I love the way they play football,” he added.
The Spaniard also expressed hope that City would avoid sanctions, while acknowledging that the final decision rests with the relevant authorities.
“I think the trophies that you win on the pitch remain on the pitch, and they deserve to win that. I hope they can avoid that sanction,” he said.
In February 2023, the Premier League charged Manchester City with more than 100 alleged breaches of financial rules covering the period from 2009 to 2018. The charges include alleged failures to provide accurate financial information and breaches relating to player and manager payments.
City have consistently denied wrongdoing. The case has been subject to independent proceedings and legal challenges, with any outcome and potential sanctions dependent on the relevant process.
