Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick says he has yet to decide whether Bruno Fernandes will remain club captain following the midfielder’s criticism of his tactics.
Carrick addressed the issue at a press conference ahead of United’s Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, October 31.
United head into the match without a win in their last eight games across all competitions, including a 3-0 home defeat to AFC Bournemouth in the league and a 4-1 loss to Como in the UEFA Champions League in Italy. Bruno Fernandes was an unused substitute in the defeat to Bournemouth, prompting questions about his role in the team.
Carrick and the midfielder held a private meeting earlier this week to clear the air, but the question of whether Fernandes will retain the captaincy remains unresolved.

“There’s no decision to be made on that (Bruno as captain). Bruno is fully committed to the football club, there’s no issues with that. We look ahead to the game on Saturday.”

“Listen, we are clear with the situation of the team and as a football club, at the moment. As I’ve just said, he is an important player for this group, he has been and he will be” Carrick said.
