New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown says there is still plenty to fix despite his side ending their winless start to the 2026-27 NBA season with a 111-97 win over the Detroit Pistons.
The Knicks looked set for a fourth straight defeat after trailing 38-25 at the end of the first quarter at Madison Square Garden. However, they responded with a dominant third quarter, outscoring Detroit 37-13 to take control of the game.
Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson recovered from slow starts to finish with 27 and 23 points, respectively. Towns also grabbed a game-high 20 rebounds to help secure the win.

Speaking after the win, Brown praised his team’s improved performance compared with their previous games.

“We had more good moments in this game in totality than we did in the first three games, and that’s why we got the win. Our awareness, our level of physicality on [Detroit’s shooters] was a lot better than the previous game.”

“I thought that shift in mindset was big for us in the second half. Is it fixed? No. it ain’t fixed. Nothing’s really fixed. What tonight shows us is we’re more than capable if we put our minds to it, and that’s what we got to continue to try to build off of” Brown said.
