World number one Jannik Sinner has confirmed that his 2026 season is over as he begins treatment for a knee injury.
Sinner has enjoyed a remarkable season, winning six titles, including his second consecutive Wimbledon crown and five ATP Masters 1000 titles in Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome. He also reached the Australian Open semi-finals.

The Italian finished the season with a 44-3 win-loss record, giving him a 93.6 per cent winning rate. Sinner said he decided with his doctors after assessing his condition, with his long-term career now the priority.
“Me together with the doctors have decided that I need a course of treatment for my knee which means that the 2026 season is officially over,” Sinner said.
The decision means Sinner will miss the remainder of the ATP season, including the European indoor tournaments and the ATP Finals in Turin.
The Italian admitted the decision was difficult, particularly after the memorable end to his previous season in Turin, but said he would focus on making a full recovery.

“At the moment I also need to think about my long-term career so I will do everything possible to get back 100 percent,” he added. “I will thank you already in advance for your support and hope to see you very very soon on court again.”
