Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal insists he will win the Ballon d’Or Men’s Player of the Year award at some point in his career despite missing out on the 2026 prize.
Yamal expressed his confidence in a statement posted on Instagram after finishing third in this year’s rankings.
Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane won the award after an outstanding 2025/26 season in which he scored 61 goals in 51 games to help Bayern win the German league and German Cup.
Kane also scored six goals in seven matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where England won the bronze medal.
Yamal finished second behind Ousmane Dembélé in the 2025 edition before dropping to third this year, but remains confident he will eventually claim football’s most prestigious individual honour.

“It’ll come. Good things take time, and I trust the path I’m building. There’s no rush. I’m full of hope and confidence that one day my moment will come”.

“Congratulations to the winners. My focus now returns to what really matters: helping Barcelona win again” Yamal said.

Yamal won the 2026 Young Player of the Year Award, marking the third year in a row he has won the award.
