Interim Black Stars assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko says Ghana will select the best available players for their upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Somalia.
The Black Stars will face Somalia in a double-header on November 12 and 16 in Group C, with both sides still searching for their first win after two matches.
Ghana’s poor start, which included a 2-0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire and a 4-2 loss to The Gambia, led to the departure of head coach Carlos Queiroz.
Kim Lars Björkegren has since been appointed to lead a new technical team, with Tanko and former Black Stars coach Godwin Attram serving as his assistants. Speaking at a post-match presser after Medeama’s 1-1 draw with Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Tanko said the technical team will prioritise form and quality when selecting players for the two matches.
“There is no Ghana Premier League player or foreign player; we are looking at the best players that can help Ghana that’s it.”

“If 10 local players, we think they can help, why not?” Tanko said at a presser after his Medeama side played out a 1-1 draw with Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
