Premier League round-up: Man Utd thrash Fulham, Arsenal edge Huddersfield, Hammers down Palace

There were important wins at the bottom of the Premier League in today’s 3pm kick-offs…

Arsenal 1-0 Huddersfield

It looked as though Arsenal would drop points against a resilient Huddersfield side until Lucas Torreira popped up with an overhead kick with seven minutes to go.

Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang wasted glorious chances to open the scoring in the first-half as Huddersfield clung on.

The late goal is a huge blow to David Wagner’s team, who drop into the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have extended their unbeaten run to 21 games.

Burnley 1-0 Brighton

Burnley climbed out of the drop zone with a much-needed win over Brighton.

James Tarkowski’s 40th-minute winner stopped a worrying run of three successive league defeats.

Jack Cork’s shot deflected in off Tarkowski in a game of few chances. The defeat for Brighton sees them drop to 11th place.

Cardiff 1-0 Southampton

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s reign as Southampton manager got off to the worst possible start after losing to relegation rivals Cardiff.

Callum Paterson struck in the 74th minute to give the Bluebirds their third successive home win.

Neil Warnock’s men are now four points clear of the relegation zone, while goal difference keeps Southampton off the foot of the table.

Manchester United 4-1 Fulham

Manchester United ended their four-game winless league run in style by putting four past Claudio Ranieri’s Fulham.

The game was over before half-time when goals from Ashley Young, Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku gave the hosts a comfortable lead.

Any hope Fulham had of a comeback when Aboubakar Kamara converted a second-half penalty was ended when Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Marcus Rashford, who assisted two goals, added a fourth late on to compound the Cottagers’ misery.

West Ham 3-2 Crystal Palace

West Ham secured their third successive league win after coming from behind to beat Crystal Palace.

James McArthur had given the Eagles a half-time lead before Robert Snodgrass brought the Hammers level three minutes after the break.

Two quick-fire goals from Javier Hernandez and Felipe Anderson ensured Manuel Pellegrini’s side will finish the day in the top 10.

Jeffrey Schlupp scored a 76th-minute consolation goal, but West Ham held on for the points.
