The draw was done on Friday, January 8, 2020.

The first leg is scheduled to take place on February 14, 2021 and the second leg comes off on February 21, 2021.

The winners of the tie will advance to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup group stages where Kotoko last played in 2018.

Kotoko dropped to CAF’s second-tier competition after exiting the CAF Champions League to Sudanese giants Al Hilal in the last round of qualifiers to the group stages.

Having lost the first leg to the Sudanese 1-0 in Accra, the Porcupine Warriors were struck with COVID-19 after seven players and four team officials returned positive test results ahead of the game in Sudan.

This resulted in Kotoko forfeiting the return leg after they were unable to present the minimum 15 players required for the game to start.

Kotoko later accused the Sudanese of manipulating the results and then petitioned CAF on the matter.

ES Sétif on the other hand advanced to this stage of the CAF Confederation Cup after getting a walkover against Chadian side Renaissance FC following their disqualification.

ES Sétif are currently top of the Algerian League and are also unbeaten this season in all competitions.
