Rennes youngster, Kamaldeen Sulemana, has described Ghana’s group stage exit at the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations as “beyond embarrassing”.

The four time champions crashed out of the competition without winning any of their group matches.

The exit was confirmed following a 3-2 defeat to 132nd ranked Comoros in their last group game.

Sulemana, who started all of Ghana’s three group games to little impact, took to social media platform, Instagram to pen a letter to the Ghanaian fans in which he apologized and vouched he and his teammates would bounce back stronger.

“My first dance at Afcon started on the wrong foot with performances as a team beyond embarrassing but very grateful for my debut in this prestigious tournament,” he said in a social media statement.

“A very tough experience with so many learning curves. Things didn’t go as planned and we have ourselves to blame as a team.

Sincere apologies. No excuse or apology is enough for Ghana deserves better. Giving up is never an option, we will be back and I mean we will back!

“Thank you for the unrivalled support & kind messages.”

The Black Stars are next in action in March 2022, when they face Nigeria in a 2022 FIFA World Cup play-off tie for a place at Qatar 2022.
