Ghana Gas in partnership with Wembley Sports Construction company has cut the sod for the construction of a modern astro turf pitch at the Ghana Prisons Training Centre.

The pitch will have washrooms, fences, lights plus a standard-size football field.

With the track record for producing quality ultramodern astro turfs in the country, Wembley Sports Construction company has built over 30 of such facilities across the length and breadth of the country.

Notable among these facilities are the ones built in Sekondi, Agogo and Adjiringano.

According to Robert Coleman, who is the brain behind astro turf development in Ghana, the project will be completed in five months.

The aim of the project is to help develop more sporting talents in the country, with greater attention to the development of talents in the prisons service.

Head of Corperate Communications of Ghana Gas, Ernest Owusu-Bempah Bonsu before officially cutting the sod highlighted that his outfit is dedicated to building more astro turfs in the country to help promote the culture of football in the country.

Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Isaac Kofi Egyir expressed his gratitude for the project

Adding to his initial remarks, Robert Coleman of Wembley Sports Construction company pleaded with the Prisons Service to make available 20 people to groom them to help maintain the pitches after completion.
