CAF Women’s CL: Philomena Abakah’s Simba Queens inch closer to qualification

Ghanaian striker, Philomena Abakah will compete in the final game of the CECAFA Regional qualifiers for the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League.

Simba Queens beat AS Kigali from Rwanda 5-1 in the semifinals of the regional competition, with Abakah registering an assist in the big win.

Kenya International, Corazon Aquino scored twice in the win, with Clementine Opa, Aisha Juma and Diana William adding to the goals. Dorothee Mukeshimana scored the consolation goal for AS Kigali.

Abakah’s Simba Queens take on She Corporate Football Club from Uganda in the final game on Saturday.

The winner of the contest progresses to compete in the main competition of the continental tournament to be hosted in Morocco.

Former Berry Ladies player, Abakah joined Simba Queens in July this year after a strong performance in the 2021-2022 Ghana Women’s Premier League.

Five teams have secured places in the main competition, including WAFU Zone A Champions, Determine Girls Football Club from Liberia.
