The group stage draw of the Europa League for the 2022-2023 Season was conducted earlier on Friday and Ghanaian Forwards Bernard Tekpetey and Malik Abubakari have been drawn in the same group.

Tekpetey’s Ludogorets Razgrad and Abubakari’s HJK Helsinki got drawn in Group C alongside AS Roma and Spanish outfit Real Betis.

Both players played key roles in determining their respective team’s qualification to the group stage of the competition

Tekpetey assisted a goal in Ludogrets’ 3-3 draw with Zalgiris Vilnius to qualify with a 4-3 advantage on aggregate. Abubakari scored an outstanding effort in Helsinki’s 1-1 result against Silkeborg to give the Finnish side a 2-1 aggregate win. (Click highlighted text to watch goal)

Abubakari, who is on loan from Swedish side Malmo FF, got his first goal in four Europa League qualifying games for his new side and Tekpetey has two assists in two games in Europa League qualifying games.

The likes of Osman Bukari, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Patrick Kpozo will represent Ghana in the Europa League.
