Ghana’s Ministry of Youth and Sports has sent a Get Well message to the National Wheelchair Tennis Team after an alleged robbery attack on the team after competing in a tournament held in Nigeria.

The Ministry, through its Public Relations Unit, communicated the message through an official released earlier today in the wake of the unfortunate attack.

The statement also assured the team of the Ministry’s support while condemning the attack and stated that “our commitment is to ensure their safety”.

Three members of the Ghana team were reported injured after suffering several wounds to the face and head areas. The car they traveled was damaged in the process.

The Wheelchair had participated in the 2023 International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Team Cup Africa qualifiers in Nigeria but got attacked on Monday, February 13 en route to Ghana and arrived at the Accra Sports Stadium at 1:30 AM.

Coach Phillip Plange told CITI Sports the injured team members had received medical treatment and had been discharged. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
