Ghanaian-British international Power Forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning helped AS Douanes progress to the playoffs.

AS Douanes Power Forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning has stated his best production is yet to come after competing in the regular season of the 2023 Basketball Africa League (BAL) following a two year absence from playing professional basketball due to various injuries.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after the veteran forward aided the Senegal side progress to the playoffs of the BAL set to take place in May in Kigali, Rwanda.

Bryan-Amaning played in all five games in the Sahara Conference and averaged 7.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in 17.1 minutes and the former University of Washington player believes he is just getting started.

“Once you take a long time away from the game, it’s about adjusting to pace and speed…obviously, we are in Africa we have the best athletes in the world so the game is a lot faster than other countries, other leagues that I have played in. But I feel like these five games weren’t the best of me but it’s a way for me kind of getting my feet wet.”

Douanes and three other teams qualified from the Sahara Conference to the playoffs and will face off against four qualified teams from the Nile Conference in May.

Games in the Nile Conference commence on April 26.
