The management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko have responded to the allegations that they have neglected members of the club who were involved in an accident almost six years ago.

On July 12 2017, the Kumasi Asante Kotoko team bus was involved in an accident in which one person died and several others sustained injuries.

The Kotoko team bus was involved in the accident when returning to Kumasi from Accra after a GHPL game against Inter Allies, which claimed the life of the team’s deputy chief equipment’s officer, Thomas Obeng Asare and injured several of the playing body including the coach Steve Polack and his assistant Godwin Ablordey.

Six years on, multiple reports suggest that some victims of the accident have been neglected with most of them living in dire health conditions.

Countering the reports circulating in the media, the management of Asante Kotoko, under the leadership of Nana Yaw Amponsah says attempts to find a solution to ensure these accident victims are supported have proven futile.

He, however, added that the club will continue to engage the victims and produce a plan to “alleviate their situation” over the next few days.

READ FULL STATEMENT HERE:

Management have taken notice of disappointment pouring out in respect of lack of support for the victims of the accident which occurred in 2017.
