“Kurt’s administration has done extremely well” – Randy Abbey

Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association, Dr. Randy Abbey believes Kurt Okraku’s administration has been a success after a three and half year tenure in office.

He made this declaration on the back of Okraku’s evaluation of his administration, where he stated that he has over-achieved since taking up the job in 2019.

The 52-year-old, whose mandate expires in October, is seeking a second term in office and believes his yet-to-be-done first term has been successful.

In an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, Dr. Randy Abbey tipped Kurt Okraku to continue as President of the FA and believes his administration can do better if given a second term in office.

“The Kurt Okraku administration has done extremely well; I think they could have done better.”

“I mean this is Kurt’s first time at being an FA President, there are many decisions that this is the first time they have been confronted with.”

“There are many situations and scenarios, that it was his first time, he could have gotten some of them wrong.”

“In hindsight, he could have done some other things differently, he could have taken some other decisions, and he would have learnt a lot from many other things that have happened.”

“So yes, I think the administration has done extremely well, if you ask me, if he deserves to continue, I think that yes!”

“I think that the mistakes that have been made, the benefit of hindsight that has been achieved would only make him much better.”

“I mean he will now be confronted with things he’s been confronted with before and so he will be in a better decision-making situation.”

“He would be able to build many of the good things that he’s done and even make it better”

Okraku was elected as the Boss of the Ghana Football Association in 2019 after beating off competition from five other candidates.

However, his first term of office is set to come to an end in October and he is bidding to be re-elected into office.

The last GFA Presidential election failed to produce a winner in the first round after no candidate managed the required 50% plus one vote.

This forced the voting exercise into a run-off, which was contested by Okraku, George Afriyie, and current Kumasi Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer, Nana Yaw Amponsah after Fred Pappoe pulled out.

In all, six candidates contested the last GFA Presidential elections, which took place at the auditorium of the College of Physicians and Surgeons.

They were George Afriyie, Amanda Clinton, Frederick Pappoe, George Ankoma Mensah, Nana Yaw Amponsah, and the eventual winner Kurt Okraku.
