Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has refuted claims made by fellow retired Black Stars player, Kevin-Prince Boateng, that the former AC Milan player didn’t get support from his teammates when he got expelled from camp at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Gyan took to his X(formerly Twitter) page to voice his side of the story that had Boateng saying he and Muntari weren’t supported by their national teammates after the pair criticized Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials for mistreating players.

Reacting to the statement made on Rio Ferdinand’s Vibe With Five Podcast, Gyan stated that Boateng was expelled because he clashed with Black Stars head coach James Kwasi Appiah at a training session.

He added that Boateng’s expulsion was a call made by the head coach and the German born Boateng had support from his teammates behind the scenes.

Gyan’s version of the story contradicted Boateng’s story with the latter stating that clash was at a meeting with the team’s leaders including then GFA President Kwasi Nyantakyi.
