Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi has snapped at the thought of Ghana right full back Tariq Lamptey being available for selection to the Black Stars for the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.

He said this in a pre game press conference as Brighton prepares to play Crystal Palace on Thursday, December 21 at 20:00 GMT.

His sharp answer comes in the wake of Lamptey’s inclusion in the 55 man provisional squad for the upcoming tournament.

De Zerbi confirmed that Lamptey will be out due to injury for a long time and hasn’t been involved in Brighton games for two months. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

The Italian manager communicated his confusion over Lamptey’s inclusion due to his injury situation saying, “Maybe the coach of Ghana doesn’t watch the Premier League because I don’t know how much time we have played without Tariq Lamptey. He is not available to play with Brighton, how can he play with Ghana?”

Lamptey’s injury issues have forced him to be absent from Black Stars duties since playing for Ghana at the 2022 World Cup.
