Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi says the task force charged to name a new Black Stars coach must look beyond big name candidates in its search.

The taskforce, led by GFA Vice President Mark Addo, is expected to name a replacement for sacked Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton in 21 days.

The five man committee that has Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Black Stars legend Opoku Nti and renowned lawyer Ace Ankomah as members, listed the criteria prospective coaches must meet to be named Black Stars coach. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Speaking in an interview with GTV Sports Plus, former GFA President Nyantakyi said the search must go beyond big names.

“If we look at big names only, we will bring the same recycle people (coaches) here at the end of four years, we will be back to square one.”

Under Hughton, Ghana crashed out of the 2023 AFCON at the group stage after failing to win a game in three Group B games.

Ghana lost 1-2 to Cape Verde and drew 2-2 with Egypt and Mozambique respectively.
