Zambian Football Association President Andrew Kamanga has praised the Copper Queens for pulling through a tough game to seal progression to the next round of qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

He said this in his speech delivered after Zambia drew 3-3 with Ghana with the result giving the Southern African nation a 4-3 win on aggregate. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Zambia needed a Barbra Banda goal via a free kick in the 96th minute to get the important equalizer as Ghana led 3-2 heading into the final moments.

After the win, Kamanga praised the efforts of the team in the face of a very difficult game that almost had Zambia miss out on a place against Morocco with the winner set to book a spot in Paris.

“It’s been a very tough game. We were chasing the game but I think at the end of the day you were able to come through so we should not relent. The fighting spirit defines your team. We’ve only got 180 minutes.”

“We’ve been to the Olympics so it won’t be new except that this time around when we qualify, we’ll be going there with a lot of experience from the last Olympics.”
