Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu featured prominently in AS Monaco’s latest win in the 2023-2024 French Ligue 1 season as AS Monaco secured qualification to the UEFA Champions League next season.

Monaco’s 2-0 win over Montpellier away from home ensured the Principality Club will conclude the season in second place behind league champions Paris Saint-Germain to secure one of three Champions League spots.

By securing qualification, Monaco will compete in the Champions League for the first time since the 2018-2019 season.

In the win over Montpellier, Salisu lasted the entire duration of the game and delivered a strong performance playing on the left side of a three man backline.

The 25 year old made four clearances, two interceptions, won four of five aerial duels and completed 54 of 61 passes accurately.

Salisu has had a solid campaign in his debut season after joining the French club from English Premier League side Southampton. He missed significant time due to a knee injury picked up in his final season in England.

He is in line to play in Monaco’s season finale against FC Nantes on Sunday, May 19 at 19:00 GMT.
