Ghana’s boxing gold medalist, Mohammed Amadu has stated that he is determined to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics as he pushes for a final slot at the upcoming second world qualifying tournament in Bangkok-Thailand.
The 19-year-old won Ghana’s third gold medal in boxing at the just-ended African games in the featherweight division at the Bukom boxing arena.
Amadu stated that he will qualify for the Paris games because he has done it before for Ghana.
During the African game, the gold that I won, I knew I would win it.
That’s not the determination.
The determination is the Olympic games because I know what I can do.
I was at the world championship last year and I was one of the African boxers who reached the quarter-final. we were only three African boxers who reached the quarter-finals.
According to my coach since Ghana participated in the World Championship, no Ghanaian reached the quarter-final.
So this should tell you we are ready to qualify.
Amadu Mohammed, Featherweight-57Kg, Theophilus Kpakpo Allotey, Flyweight-51kg, Joseph Commey, Light Welterweight-63.5Kg, Henry Malm, Light Middleweight -71Kg and Mark Kodjovi Ahondjo, Super Heavyweight -92Kg+ will be joined in Bangkok by US-based Ornella Sathoud who will feature in the women’s Middleweight -75Kg.

Following the unsuccessful attempts in Senegal and Italy, the black bombers will have another opportunity in Bangkok to clinch the needed slot for the global event.
