For the second time in as many months, Italian tennis player, Jasmine Paolini, who is also of Ghanaian and Polish heritage, has lost a grand slam tennis final.

Weeks after losing to Iga Swiatek in the French Open Final, Paolini lost 2-6, 6-2, 4-6 to Czech player Barbora Krejcikova in this year’s Wimbledon final; Krejcikova becomes the eighth woman in eight years to win the prestigious slam.

Despite fighting back in typical fashion to win the second set, Paolini couldn’t hold on her momentum to win the crucial third set and win her first grand slam title.

The 28 year old, who has gained widespread attention because of her extensive family background including having a Ghanaian grandfather, expressed how disappointed she was but highlighted how much progress she has made over the past two months. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“The last two months have been crazy for me. Today I am a little bit sad. I try to keep smiling because I have to remember today is still a good day. I made the final of Wimbledon” she said according to the BBC.
