FC Samartex 1996 head coach, Nurudeen Amadu, has described his team’s goalless draw with Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium as a fair reflection of the matchup.

He said this in his postgame interview as he reflected on his team’s opening game of its Ghana Premier League title defence.

Dreams’ Collins Buah was shown a second yellow card in the 70th minute but Samartex missed out on taking advantage of the numerical advantage and Amadu believes his side should have done better in that situation.

“Numerical advantage does not mean that you win the game. I will say that it’s a fair reflection, we should have done better as a team in terms of our attacking play and utilizing our chances. I think we did have some decent chances more than them but our finishing was poor so that is what we need to be working (on).”

Samartex won its first ever Ghana Premier League title in the 2023-2024 season and will take on Morocco’s Raja Casablanca in the CAF Champions League second round next on Sunday, September 15 at the Accra Stadium.
