Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has stated that matters connected to CAF banning the Baba Yara Stadium from hosting Category 3 international games will be addressed soon in Parliament.

He made this statement in an exclusive interview with ChannelOne Sports as he addressed the issue that has ruled Ghana out from hosting international games including the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

Aside calling for the Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, to resign, the former Sports Minister added that the “embarrassing” ban and issues stemming from the 2023 AFCON expenditure will be addressed in Ghana’s Parliament next month. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“I know we’ve asked him (Ussif) a few questions, the Minister had come to the floor (before), he didn’t give us the sort of answers we were looking for and we followed up…and I’m sure that when we get into Parliament next month, all those issues and this particular issue of national embarrassment, will be looked at again.”

Minister of Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif

Ghana is scheduled to play its “home” 2025 AFCON qualifier against Sudan in either Togo or Cote D’Ivoire in October.
