After losing 2-0 to Sudan at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Benghazi, Libya, Ghana’s chances of qualifying to compete in the 2025 AFCON in Morocco have reduced sharply.

Next year’s AFCON takes place in the aforementioned North African nation from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026 with 24 nations set to compete.

At the time of writing, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Cameroon, Algeria and Angola have qualified to compete in the tournament alongside host nation Morocco.

Despite the slim qualification odds, Ghana can still qualify to the 2025 AFCON by winning upcoming Group F games against Angola in Luanda on November 11 and November 15 in Ghana against Niger.

Wins over Angola and Niger gives Ghana eight points with the Black Stars sitting in third place in the group having accrued two points heading into the those crucial qualifiers.

Ghana will need second ranked Sudan to lose to Niger and Angola to finish above Sudan’s seven point tally and qualify to Morocco.

Four games into the qualifiers, Sudan hold a head to head advantage over Ghana having drawn goalless and beating Ghana 2-0 in two games.
