Under 20 World Cup winning goalkeeper Daniel Agyei says veteran coach Sellas Tetteh played a vital role in the Black Satellites success in Egypt in 2009.

The former Liberty Professionals coach led Ghana to win the title and be the first and still the only African country to win the Under 20 World Cup.

He added that despite being a Liberty Professionals player, Sellas Tetteh didn’t show any sign of favouritism towards him and had him work very hard for his spot in the Black Satellites.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports while reflecting on the 15th anniversary of the historic team’s win.

“He is a person who doesn’t do favouritism. He told me you are from Liberty but I am not going to favour you. You just have to work hard and if you don’t work hard you will not be my first goalkeeper. He is a very good man, principled, strict…he was a father to us and an advisor.”

“So I pushed and I got my spot in one of the friendly games three weeks or two weeks to the WAFU Tournament, so he is a very good man, a motivator and game planner.”
