GPL: “Fatigue from grueling travel schedule led to loss against Heart of Lions” – Coach Ogum

Asante Kotoko Head Coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum has attributed his team’s recent 1-0 defeat to Heart of Lions to fatigue from a demanding travel schedule and match congestion.

The Porcupine Warriors faced their second consecutive loss in the Ghana Premier League’s week nine fixture, held in Obuasi, which also marked the end of their unbeaten home run this season.

In a post-match interview, Ogum explained that the team’s exhaustion stemmed from three games played over seven days, compounded by long journeys between venues.

“We looked very tired on the field,” Ogum admitted.

“I think the stress of journeying from Kumasi to Anyinase is about nine hours; we played on Sunday and travelled another 10 hours to Accra.

We played on Wednesday and had to travel from Accra back to Kumasi. So it’s been three games in seven days, and you could see they were tired.

It was fatigue that was on our part.”

Asante Kotoko now sits in third place on the league table with 15 points.
